Like Hannah Tackett, they make themselves extraordinary.
Hannah displays her heroism through her volunteer work in the community, being a mom and giving her all to help clients.
She is currently working on her Investment Adviser Compliance Certificate Program and plans to sit for that test by year-end and will be named CCO in 2020. She has been the compliance delegate for the firm since they became an RIA in 2017. She says, “I look forward to taking a larger role in safeguarding our clients and upholding the highest standards.”
She enjoys working for advisors who help the average person. “At Penobscot, we believe that financial advice and investment management should be approachable and attainable for anyone. We don’t have any minimums. This is something I get a lot of personal reward from. We help a lot of people and offer resources where other people might not. And I’m most concerned with how we facilitate the most service for our clients with solutions that save time and energy for our team. Redtail does a lot of the heavy lifting to make our business scalable.”

Giving & participating are a constant
We find rural communities depend on a little help from neighbors and it is a great pleasure to be a helping hand locally.
“The whole Penobscot team participates in our initiatives. It’s nice to interact with your coworkers and connect over life, not just finance.”
Hannah and the Penobscot team participated in a new trail rebuild at Portland Trails and helped them to groom it. They also helped with Mid Coast Maine United Way doing a “can-struction. “It’s essentially a canned food drive but you build a tower too. We built a piggy bank and our firm logo out of canned goods.”
Penobscot also gives three days to employees to donate their time to charities. They additionally volunteer in organizations including UCP of Maine, Maine Youth Leadership, University of Maine Museum of Art, and Junior Achievement of Maine.
“We work and live in wonderful, tight-knit communities and many of us are in rural areas. We find rural communities depend on a little help from neighbors and it is a great pleasure to be a helping hand locally.”
When I call someone, who has been retired for a year or two, and they tell me how busy they are, that makes me happy to hear!
Hannah’s favorite success story centers around seeing people retire and feel secure and comfortable. “When I call someone, who has been retired for a year or two, and they tell me how busy they are, that makes me happy to hear! They had retirement aspirations that we planned with them on and the fact that they are now living that dream is amazing. They aren’t sitting around bored, but really enjoying their retirement. It makes me happy that the Penobscot team is able to help others achieve their aspirations for a good retirement”.
One of Hannah’s personal heroes is Bobbi Gibb. “She was the first woman to run the Boston Marathon in 1966 and opened the door for many female athletes to compete. Outside of running, she is a gifted lawyer, author, sculptor, painter and most recently focused her attention on researching causes and cures for neuro-degenerative diseases. Any one aspect of her life is fascinating and, in its entirety, is downright inspirational.”
“My other hero is my brother, Jesse Groom. Jesse has a severe learning disability and dyslexia. He struggled to fit the traditional education model but has overcome this and built an impressive career in Non-Destructive Testing (ultrasonic inspection of metal parts). Jesse is self-taught in code and has created databases and programs that optimize every aspect of his work.”
